ALEXANDRIA — The Willmar WarHawks scored three third-period goals to beat the Alexandria Blizzard 5-2 Friday night in an NA3HL game at the Runestone Community Center. Leading the way was Aidan Callaghan, who scored three goals for the WarHawks, his 17th, 18th and 19th of the season. Callaghan also has 15 assists in 34 games for Willmar. He’s a 6-foot-3, 208-pound forward from Chicago, Illinois. Gabriel Adams and Scott Woltman also scored goals for Willmar. For Adams, it was his 14th of the year and it came in the first period to erase a 1-0 Alexandria lead. He’s a 5-10, 171-pound forward from Bellevue, Nebraska. Woltman’s score came at 10:00 of the third period to give Willmar a 3-2 lead. The 5-10, 167-pound forward has nine goals and 10 assists this season. He’s from Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Kai Girard stopped 34 of 36 shots for the victory. Girard, from Chaska, is 9-8-1 in goal this season with a 3.61 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. Willmar has a two-game home series next Friday and Saturday with the Peoria Mustangs. Both games are set for 7:10 p.m. at the Willmar Civic Center Arena.
