WAYNE, Mich. – Wayne police said they have arrested the juvenile involved in an armed carjacking and foot pursuit. The incident occurred on Thursday (Feb. 27) in the 34000 block of Richard Street at 10 pm when officials said Central Dispatch notified them of the armed carjacking. Wayne officers said they later spotted the stolen black Mitsubishi Outlander traveling east on Annapolis Road near Venoy Road. Officials said they attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, but it failed to stop, and a short pursuit ensued. The stolen vehicle came to a stop on Columbus Street near Annapolis Road, and both the driver and the passenger fled on foot from the officers. The driver, a Black male juvenile, was later taken into custody after the short foot pursuit without incident. The unidentified Black male passenger was not arrested, and police said the gun used was later discovered after a homeowner witnessed the juvenile tossing it in his trashcan. No one was injured during this incident, and the juvenile suspect was later transported and lodged at the Wayne County Juvenile Facility.
