ARLINGTON, Texas — Kansas baseball’s Big 12 Conference tournament stay is underway Thursday, as its quarterfinals matchup against Oklahoma State has started.

The No. 2-seed Jayhawks (42-14) earned a bye through the first round to reach this point. The No. 7-seed Cowboys (28-22) had to beat No. 10-seed Baylor in the first round to do the same. Earlier this season, KU swept OSU during a three-game series in Lawrence.

Manning West entered the game in relief of Dominic Voegele, ending Kansas’ starter’s day on the mound. West didn’t allow any runs in a 1-2-3 inning of work. But the Jayhawks didn’t score at all when they were at bat in the bottom half of the fifth inning, so the score remains 6-2 with Oklahoma State in the lead.

Oklahoma State extended its lead to 6-2 in the top half of the fourth, and at the same time watched Dominic Voegele’s pitch count rise again for Kansas. The Jayhawks couldn’t score in the bottom half to cut into the deficit. After four innings, KU trails by four runs.

Oklahoma State is on the scoreboard now after a two-run home run by Brayden Smith, who put a damper on what had been a quality start so far on the mound for Dominic Voegele. And by the end of the top half of the third inning, the Cowboys had added one more run to take a 3-1 lead.

In the bottom half, Jackson Hauge hit a home run to cut OSU’s lead to 3-2. However, that was the only run Kansas scored and it still trails.

Dominic Voegele delivered another 1-2-3 inning on the mound for Kansas in the top half of the second to keep Oklahoma State scoreless. But the Jayhawks failed to score a runner they left on second base in the bottom half. It remains a 1-0 lead for KU.

Dominic Voegele, KU’s starter, pitched a 1-2-3 inning to keep Oklahoma State scoreless in the top of the first before Kansas would take the lead in the bottom half of the inning. The first pitch was thrown at 5:02 p.m. (CT). Kansas is the home team for this game, and Oklahoma State is up first.
