The Kansas City Chiefs start Organized Team Activities Group 1 today through Thursday (May 27-29). Players and coaches get to knock off some offseason rust in preparation for the 2025 season.

The offseason workouts, better known as OTAs, are voluntary minicamps that fall between voluntary minicamps in late April and mandatory minicamps in June. Most Chiefs players attend and participate in them; it's not out of the ordinary for some players to sit them out. Players recovering from injury or contract disputes have missed out on workouts in past seasons.

There are various restrictions within these sessions. However, on-field workouts may include individual or group instruction and drills, as well as "perfect play drills," and drills and play with offensive players lining up across from offensive players and defensive players lining up across from defensive players, conducted at a walk-through pace.

No live contact or team offense vs. team defense drills are permitted during this time. The Chiefs' subsequent two OTA sessions will occur June 2-4 and June 10-13.
