Kansas State football got back on track l ast week in its home finale, knocking off Cincinnati, 41-15, and now hits the road to Ames, Iowa, wrap up the regular season with a 6:30 p.m. game Saturday against Iowa State. The Wildcats (8-3, 5-3 Big 12) dropped out of the national rankings for the first time despite the victory, but have an outside chance to qualify for the Big 12 championship game provided they can get past Iowa State (9-2, 6-2). It also would take losses by at least two of the other three conference leaders — Brigham Young (9-2, 6-2), Arizona State (9-2, 6-2) and Colorado (8-3, 6-2) — plus just the right tiebreakers for K-State to advance to the Dec. 7 title game in Arlington, Texas. The Wildcats are part of a five-way tie for fifth place with Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech and West Virginia, one game out of first.
