Gov. Mike Kehoe signed three bills Saturday aimed at providing disaster relief, property tax relief, economic development and business retention in Missouri. Senate Bill 1 focused on disaster relief and economic investments within Missouri. It allocates $25 million toward emergency aid for low-income households affected by severe weather, $100 million for the Department of Public Safety for disaster relief and $50 million for the planning, design and construction of the Radioisotope Science Center at the University of Missouri's research reactor, according to the governor's office. Senate Bill 3 included the "Show-me Sports Investment Act," which helps finance stadium construction for the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs, keeping professional sports teams in Missouri. The bill also references up to $5,000 worth of tax credit for severe weather, tax credits for sporting events and property tax credit, according to the governor's office. Senate Bill 4 talks about the ability to provide the immediate transfer of emergency funds to the Missouri Housing Development Commission when the governor requests a presidential disaster declaration. "We are proud of how the General Assembly came together during this special session to deliver real results for Missourians," Kehoe said.
