Ken Page, best known for his role as the voice of Oogie Boogie in The Nightmare Before Christmas, has died. He was 70 years old.
Page's rep, Lance Kirkland, said the actor passed away "very peacefully" in his home in St. Louis on Monday. Ken reportedly sat down in his chair and passed away in his sleep.
"He was a beautiful, talented man who was larger than life. Ken was loved and adored by so many and will be missed so much," said Kirkland.
Nightmare Before Christmas composer Danny Elfman posted a short message, saying, "I'm still stunned by last night's terrible news. Ken Page died suddenly. He was the one and only Oggie Boogie Man. He was simply one of the best, most generous souls I know. Full of life and overflowing with joy. Talented and then some. Ken, my friend, you will be deeply missed."
Page's other notable credits include Family Matters, All Dogs Go to Heaven, Sable, Adventures in Wonderland, and Dreamgirls.
In addition to his on-screen accolades, Page also leaves behind a Broadway legacy, having portrayed the Lion in the 1975 stage production of The Wiz, Nicely-Nicely Johnson in Broadway's 1976 revival of Guys and Dolls, and Old Deuteronomy in Cats in 1982.
