Fierceness has made five starts over his racing career, winning twice as a two-year-old as well. His biggest win before the Florida Derby was a victory at the Breeders' Cup Juvenile last fall by six-and-a-quarter lengths. Sierra Leone notably defeated second-place Just a Touch, listed at 10-1 odds in the Kentucky Derby, in the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes. He also beat 20-1 Track Phantom and 8-1 Catching Freedom at the Risen Star Stakes. Catching Freedom bounced back from the third-place finish to win the Louisiana Derby one month later, notably defeating 20-1 Kentucky Derby entrant Honor Marie and Track Phantom. So he'll be rolling into Churchill Downs on a high note.
