PADUCAH — A multi-vehicle accident temporarily shut down eastbound traffic on the Interstate 24 Ohio River Bridge between Metropolis, Illinois and Paducah.

Emergency responders and tow crews arrived on the scene and swiftly took care to resolve the incident. The lane has since reopened.

Passenger vehicles can detour using the U.S. 45 Ohio River "Brookport" Bridge, though commercial trucks are prohibited due to weight and size restrictions. The closest alternative route for semis is the U.S. 51 Ohio River "Cairo" Bridge between Cairo, Illinois and Wickliffe, Kentucky.
