One person was shot and killed Tuesday night in Columbia during a disturbance that led to a standoff near Clark Lane. Capt. Brian Leer with the Boone County Sheriff's Office confirmed the shooting happened on the 1300 block of Frideriki Drive. Leer told KOMU 8 that a disturbance involving several people in the street preceded the shooting. When law enforcement arrived — within three minutes of the 911 call — they found an 18-year-old boy unresponsive. He did not respond to life-saving efforts and was pronounced dead at the scene. Around 8:50 p.m., KOMU 8 crews saw multiple Columbia police officers at the scene with guns drawn. Officers were heard giving commands for people to exit homes, and one man was seen leaving a house with his hands raised. The area remained blocked off late Tuesday night as officers continued their response. Police have not released any information about possible suspects or arrests. This is a developing story. KOMU 8 News will provide updates as more information becomes available.
