MOREHEAD The civil suit alleging school administrators failed to act after receiving numerous reports of an inappropriate relationship between a student and teacher has gained significant movement in light of the recent conviction of a former Rowan County coach and teacher.

Last July, Andrew Zaheri, 41, a former educator at Rowan County Senior High School, was sentenced to 22 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to the sexual exploitation of children in the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Kentucky — a sentence he will serve concurrently to a state conviction on charges stemming from an “inappropriate relationship” and sexual victimization of his former student.
