LAWTON, OKLA (KOKH) — A Lawton resident was sentenced to life in federal prison on Monday for second-degree murder in connection to a 2023 homicide. According to court records, Tevin Terrell Semien, age 30, pleaded guilty on April 22, 2024, to second-degree murder and to illegal possession of a firearm as a felon. On May 17, 2023, Karon "Dinkers" Conneywerdy Smith, age 68, was found deceased in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge . After searching Smith's residence, investigators determined that a violent struggle had taken place in her home and her vehicle was missing. On May 21, law enforcement in Texas reported Smith's vehicle outside of Dallas, Texas. Police officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver sped off and eventually crashed into a lake. Semien and Nicole Leigh Logsdon, age 25, attempted to flee the scene but were taken into custody by police. On Oct. 17, 2023, Semien was charged with one count of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and illegally possessing a firearm. Logsdon was charged with accessory after the fact to murder. Logdson pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact, and on July 15, 2024, she was sentenced to serve 96 months in federal prison.
