A Lincoln man who was accused of shooting three people in Lafayette, Indiana , on Thursday night, killing one of them, has died.

Police in Lafayette, a city of about 70,000 people that's an hour northwest of Indianapolis, said in a Facebook update Saturday morning that the man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The man was suspected of shooting two men and a woman at a laundromat. One of the men died, and the other two people remain hospitalized in stable condition, the police said.

Police have not yet named the Lincoln man, but the Lafayette Journal & Courier identified him as 73-year-old Louis McGlothlin .

The Lincoln Police Department has been assisting in the investigation, with its criminal investigations unit "actively working on elements of the case here in Nebraska," Spokeswoman Erika Thomas told the Journal Star on Friday night.
