Kuhio Aloy led off with a single and Brent Iredale added a 1-out single, but they were stranded when Rocco Peppi and Ryder Helfrick both flied out. Gabe Gaeckle will replace Gage Wood in the bottom of the fourth. Gage Wood was outstanding today. At 41 pitches it is unlikely we'll see him past past the third inning that included 2 more strikeouts, including an inning-ending strikeout of Bobby Boser on a 2-2 fastball chased high in the zone. Wood's only blemish was a 2-out double hit by Justin Nadeau. He had 5 strikeouts. Gabe Gaeckle is up in the Arkansas bullpen. The Razorbacks are not getting good swings off against Aidan King. After Justin Thomas flied out to begin the third, Charles Davalan fouled out to third and Wehiwa Aloy fouled out to first. The Razorbacks' only hit was to lead off the game by Davalan. Gage Wood looks outstanding in his second start post-rehab. He has 3 strikeouts and no base runners through the second inning. Wood's fastball touched 99 mph in the second. That was a ball high in the zone, but he showed great command of multiple 98 mph pitches that Florida hitters swung through. Wood has thrown 22 pitches. He will likely come back for at least part of the third. His pitch limit today is expected to be around 40. The Razorbacks got a runner to first base but could not advance him in the second. Rocco Peppi drew a 1-out walk before Rocco Peppi and Gabe Fraser struck out in consecutive at-bats. Gage Wood got through the first inning in 11 pitches. That was a great start given how things went last week for him. He struck out the Gators' dangerous 2-hole hitter Colby Shelton and fielded both balls put in play — a groundball and a pop up to the mound. After Charles Davalan led off with a single past shortstop, Arkansas hitters Wehiwa Aloy, Kuhio Aloy and Carson Boles all grounded out to third baseman Bobby Boser. Arkansas needs a win at Florida today to force a rubber match tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. Central. The Razorbacks lost 6-4 last night when they struck out 16 times, including 13 against sophomore superstar Liam Peterson. The Gators won with a 4-run fifth inning that included a 3-run homer by Luke Heyman. Right-hander Aidan King will start today for the Gators against Arkansas right-hander Gage Wood. Wood will be on a pitch count of about 40 as he continues to build up following a shoulder injury. The expectation is the Razorbacks will pitch Wood and maybe a setup man to get to Gabe Gaeckle, and hope Gaeckle can have a long relief appearance similar to what he did last week against Texas A&M.
