My Boomer mom is not exactly an outdoorsy person, but I am always trying to find fun things for her to do. Although I would love to hike to see the breathtaking Havasu Falls with her, that strenuous 10-mile trip would not be possible. But I’m always on a mission to find scenic destinations that require no hiking or have easy walking paths that are still extremely rewarding. Luckily, I found the Sedona Airport Scenic Lookout, and not only are locals obsessed with this iconic roadside spot in Arizona, but I am too!

If you could witness the most gorgeous sunsets and breathtaking views in Arizona without breaking a sweat, how much would that experience be worth to you? For about the same cost as a coffee at Starbucks, you can drive to Sedona Airport Scenic Lookout and marvel at the jaw-dropping sunset views over Arizona’s rugged landscapes.

The best part? You don’t even have to hike to witness these vistas. In fact, you can sit in your car and be blown away. This makes this iconic overlook a great attraction for folks with all abilities. So, no matter if you’re young or young at heart or if you’re a person who uses a wheelchair, this roadside attraction is the place for you.

There are tons of parking spaces here, but if you want to watch the sunset, I suggest that you get here at least an hour before the sun starts going down. This will guarantee that you have a front-row seat to capture the best images at this rewarding scenic spot.

From the lookout point, you can see views of the Sedona Valley, the airport, Chimney Rock, Thunder Mountain, Ship Rock, Coffeepot Rock, and other terrain as far as the eye can see. Viewing all these incredible landscapes from this iconic overlook, especially at sunset, is so rewarding, don’t you agree?

There are several observation telescopes here for you to get a better view of the landscapes. But it wouldn’t hurt to have your own binoculars or bring a high-definition camera to capture the awe-inspiring scenery.

Since this area is next to the airport (hence the name) as well as a helicopter tour business, you can also see views of planes and helicopters as they soar into the Arizona skies. For more adventure, you can take the nearby Airport View Trail to marvel at more sunset views or to check out the mysterious energy vortex. This hike is easy and it’s both kid and dog-friendly, so it’s great for the entire family.

After you’re done basking in the incredible views, stop by Mesa Grill Sedona for a bite to eat. The restaurant is in the same complex just minutes away from the scenic lookout parking lot. This means you can also enjoy views of the night sky as you savor your meal. If you ask me, this scenic spot is one of Arizona’s best-kept secrets, so it’s no wonder that locals and visitors alike can't get enough of this hidden gem attraction in Arizona. It’s got something for everyone!
