COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — Bond for the accused murderer of 22-year-old Logan Federico will be determined in the coming weeks, according to Judge Bryan Jeffries overseeing Tuesday’s hearing.

30-year-old Alexander Dickey appeared before Judge Jeffries in his first hearing since the murder of Logan Federico took place on May 3rd.

According to the Columbia Police Department, Dickey parked a stolen vehicle along Cypress Street — entering a home at random and stealing the keys to a second vehicle and a firearm.

Police say he then entered the neighboring home where Federico was staying while visiting friends — where he shot her in the chest.

Under South Carolina law, Judge Jeffries saying bond will not be set for Dickey until a General Sessions hearing in the coming weeks.

Until then, he’ll remain in the Lexington County Detention Center.

“Mr. Dickey, do you have any questions about the things I’ve told you here today?” asked Judge Jeffries.

“No sir,” replied Dickey.

Dickey could be heard casually saying “Alright, I’ll go back to jail, as he exited the courtroom.

Logan’s father, Stephen, spoke with media after the hearing. Logan’s mother and brother also present wearing pink in her honor.

“When he first walked in I got very emotional. I think that was pretty obvious. And then my daughter’s face set in front of my eyes,” says Stephen.

He described his daughter as a vibrant person with a zest for life.

“She had a mind of her own, she was willing to fight for the underdog. She was willing to take a deep conversation to make somebody feel really great about themselves. She didn’t hold punches, she told people like it was like I do. That’s one thing she had from her daddy, she wasn’t afraid to speak up,” he says.

“Support from a community is kinda hard to describe unless you go through it and we’re going through the worst of the worst right now. The amount of love that we’ve seen from family and friends, from people we don’t even know reaching out because of my daughter and how special a person she was,” he says.

The family is hoping for swift justice for their daughter and sister.

“My wife Melissa grabbed me and we said this, ‘Today – ‘Logan Strong.’ That’s what we’re going with from here on out. Representing her professionally with integrity and to make sure that no stone gets unturned,” Stephen says.

The family’s attorney Dick Harpootlian says he will seek the death penalty for Dickey.
