"ArtoCade is Cargantuan!" Take a day trip to Trinidad to see the wacky and creative ArtCar Festival!
This weekend, on September 8, 9, and 10, the city of Trinidad will be presenting the amazingly creative and wacky ArtoCade! This is a family-friendly event which will host an ArtCar festival and parade!
What is an Art Car, you ask? From cars and motorcycles, to bikes, trikes, scooters, and tractors -- some extremely creative and talented individuals take these means of transportation and transform them into moving works of art.
ArtoCade claims to be the "largest, funnest, silliest, and wonder-fullest" art event to ever happen in southern Colorado! Aside from the ArtCar parade, ArtoCade is full of fun events for the whole family!
Most of the big events will be held on Saturday. That's when you'll see the ArtoCade Parade at noon in downtown Trinidad. The rest of the day will be filled with a ton of fun events! You can meet the car artists and ask them about their projects, along with a ton of other fun festival events! Grab the kiddos and take them to ArtoKids for some interactive fun near Gallery main on Main Street!

For some nighttime sans-kids action on Saturday night, from 6:30 p.m. to midnight, check out
Cardango. After the parade and festival activities, the sun will go down and the lights will come up. "Part revue, part costume gala, part dance, and part circus!" pretty much sums up the night's activities. Each year the program is different, and some amazing acts come from near and far to perform their talents.
ArtoCade is supported by a
ton of local businesses, which just goes to show how great this event is for the community. We suggest stopping by some of the businesses while wandering around the festival/parade grounds -- like visiting
