BATON ROUGE – Arrival of SEC baseball brought with it humidity and warm temperatures to south Louisiana.

No. 1 LSU basebal l opens up conference play with a three-game series against Missouri (8-8) at Alex Box Stadium beginning Friday afternoon (4:30 p.m., SEC Network+).

Jay Johnson's Tigers (17-1) made it through the nonconference only portion of their schedule with one loss and have beaten Dallas Baptist, Kansas State and Nebraska. Seven LSU players are hitting higher than .300 on the season, led by freshman sensation Derek Curiel (.450), who has safely reached bas in his first 18 at-bats of his collegiate career.

On paper, LSU's stout lineup appears poised to feast against the visiting Tigers' pitching staff which has struggled through the first month-plus of the 2025 campaign. Missouri sports the worst ERA in the SEC at 6.20 and its pitchers have struck out the fewest number of batters through their first 16 games.

Eighth inning



TOP 8: Back-to-back solo home for Kaden Peer and Mateo Serna and Missouri has cut into LSU's lead here late in the game. LSU up 9-5.

Seventh inning



BOT 7: Braswell walked but nothing else for LSU. Home team still up 9-3.

TOP 7: Anderson comes out of the game after giving up a walk and a hit. He goes 6⅓ frames with 11 strikeouts. He's responsible for the two runners on base. Mizzou is able plate one of the those runs off a sacrifice fly and LSU's lead is now 9-3.

Sixth inning



BOT 6: Brown goes opposite field and nearly clears the wall in left. The ball careened off the wall and two runs scored. LSU goes up 9-2.

TOP 6: Anderson is now up to 10 strikeouts for the game and has retired 14 of the last 16 hitters he's faced. LSU leads 7-2.

Fifth inning



BOT 5: Nothing doing for LSU. Still 7-2.

TOP 5: Missouri got a double but Anderson answered and struck out Goldbeck to get out of the inning. LSU still leads 7-2.

Fourth inning



BOT 4: Curiel paints the right field line with the ball and he races to a triple that clears the bases. LSU takes it first lead of the night, 5-2, with 1 out in the bottom of the fourth. Dickinson batted in a run off a slow dribbler to third and Jake Brown, off the bench, drove in Jared Jones from second base. LSU takes 7-2 lead into the fifth.

TOP 4: Anderson strikes out two more, bringing his total up to seven through four innings. LSU's lefty threw just nine pitches in that frame.

Third inning



BOT 3: Nothing doing for LSU in the bottom third. Score is still tied, 2-2.

TOP 3: Anderson walked a batter but no real threat for Mizzou. Anderson has five strikeouts through three innings.

Second inning



BOT 2: Josh Pearson continues to get on base, this time by HBP. Catcher Luis Hernandez drove one out to left center to tie the game up, 2-2.

TOP 2: After a quick, three-pitch strikeout from Anderson, Mizzou's bats came to life. Some redemption for Lovich, who had the first-inning error, he cranked a fastball out opposite field to give Missouri the 2-0 lead. Anderson responded with another K and a popout to get out of the top half.

First inning



BOT 1: Daniel Dickinson reached with two outs on a hit-by-pitch. Ethan Frey followed him by getting on due to a throwing error on Mizzou shortstop Jackson Lovich, which allowed both runners to move up into scoring position. But with two outs already, Steven Milam's flyout to center field ended the early threat. Still scoreless at The Box.

TOP 1: LSU lefty starter Kade Anderson fans two batters in the top of the first. Command was there for the sophomore and he got both Kaden Peer and Mateo Serna to go on strikes.
