Michael Wilcox, 35, is in custody after being accused of making threats on social media by a special agent of the FBI.

According to court documents, the Marion County man is accused of making Pride-related threats on Facebook and Instagram. The official term for the offense is transmission of an interstate threat to injure.

Wilcox posted a GIF in the comments of Goblin Market’s Facebook page on May 31 that read, “Can’t expect God to do all the work,” over an image of a gun being loaded.

The post from the discount art market located in Orlando was promoting events in the LGBTQ+ community. More specifically, the account was promoting their Pride event scheduled for June 14 at the Central Florida Fairgrounds.

The event has been advertised as the biggest free Gay Pride festival encompassing various LGBTQ+-related activities and events.

The date of the Goblin Market Pride event went hand in hand with the six-year memorial weekend of the Pulse nightclub mass shooting on June 12, 2016, in Orlando.

In addition to noting the alarming nature of the threat due to its timing, the special agent also illustrated that other Facebook users evidently viewed the comment as a threat of violence.

According to court documents, Wilcox is accused of making the same threat on the Goblin Market's Instagram account as well.

On June 13, the FBI Tampa Division Orlando Resident Agency became aware of the threat after the FBI’s National Threat Operations Center received a related tip, court documents say.

Agents in Orlando began coordinating with the Orlando Police Department to identify the user making the threats.

An email associated with the account led OPD to believe the comments came from Wilcox.

OPD is familiar with Wilcox and indicated that he has a history of mental health issues, court documents say.

According to the Marion County Sheriff's Office, Wilcox was arrested and booked on June 13.
