FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - A man died in a crash Saturday in Franklin County, according to Virginia State Police.

Police say officers responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash at 12:25 a.m. on Route 220 at the intersection with Southside Drive.

According to police, the driver of a Jeep Liberty ran off the right side of the road and overturned, striking a tree.

The driver was identified as Erick Keith Custis, 52, of Charleston, SC. who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say speed was a factor in the crash.
