SPRINGFIELD — One man is dead following a fatal car crash early Sunday morning.

The driver, who has not been identified, struck a pole at about 12:20 a.m. on Berkshire Street near Elizabeth Street, said Ryan Walsh, police spokesman.

He was taken to Baystate Medical Center by ambulance after the collision and died at the hospital, Walsh said.
