CARSON, ND ( KXNET ) — A North Dakota man is facing life in prison after he was arrested for what investigators say are years’ worth of sexual abuse. Andrew Helgeson was in court this week. He’s charged with four counts of gross sexual imposition involving a victim who was under the age of 15. KX News obtained court documents that allege some of the sexual acts happened in Bismarck hotel rooms that Helgeson had booked. The documents also say the victim gave a cell phone to Bismarck police detectives who then performed a forensic analysis. On the phone, detectives found old text messages from 2020 to 2021 where two people talked ‘in code’ about sexual acts. Helgeson’s trial is scheduled for January of next year. Helgeson was in court this week, so far, he doesn’t have an attorney. A judge set his bond at $100,000. He’ll be back in court again next month. He faces life in prison if convicted.
