ST. LOUIS — A man was sentenced Thursday to 15 years in prison for running over and killing a south St. Louis bar owner with a car in 2021.

William C. Warden, 29, pleaded guilty last month to second-degree murder and assault for killing James Wors, the owner of Bomber O'Brien's Sports Bar and Grill at 4621 Beck Avenue.

William C. Warden was charged Nov. 12, 2021, with intentionally striking and killing a man with his vehicle at Bomber O’Brien’s Sports Bar and Grill in St. Louis.

Authorities say Warden was kicked out of the bar around midnight after fighting with another man. The fight spilled out into the street where Warden hit a man and broke the bones around his eye.

Warden and his friends then got into a Chevrolet Cruze parked nearby. He then drove onto the sidewalk in front of the bar's entrance, hitting two people, including Wors.

Warden was originally charged with first-degree murder, but he pleaded guilty to the lesser second-degree murder charges as part of a plea agreement for a 15-year prison sentence.
