CLEVELAND, Ohio - Authorities arrested a murder suspect and another fugitive Wednesday night in Canton after a brief standoff with a SWAT team.

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, led by U.S. marshals, and Canton police officers arrested Floyd Jones, 42. Jones barricaded himself inside a home in the 1200 block of Tuscarawas Street, prompting police to call for a tactical team, according to marshals.

Jones was wanted on a charge of second-degree murder in Florida’s Miami-Dade County and a weapons offense in Carroll County, Ohio.

Police also took Angela Parr, 52, into custody before the standoff began. She was wanted on an assault charge in Canton.

Jones is being held in the Stark County Jail, and he is expected to be extradited to Florida to face the murder charge. Parr remains in local custody on her outstanding warrant.

“When these fugitives barricade and refuse to comply, they jeopardize the safety of the public and our officers,” said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott.
