NILES, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – We come together today to honor and remember the life of Marvin Ray Hildreth, known affectionately to friends and family as Ray, who passed away in Niles, Ohio, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on September 20, 1960, in Cleveland, Ohio, Ray was a cherished figure in his community, known for his unwavering work ethic and his generous spirit. Ray was the beloved son of Marvin Ray Hildreth, Sr. and Betty Ann Newman.

He brought immeasurable joy and laughter to his family: including his daughters, Charlotte Hildreth and Sarah Dart; his brother, Thomas Hildreth and his sisters, Janet Hancovsky and Judy King.

His passing was preceded by his parents, Marvin and Betty; his wife, Charlene Hildreth and his brothers, David Swiger and Richard Hildreth, all of whom had a profound impact on his life.

Professionally, Ray was a dedicated and skilled worker at Niles Iron and Metal Works since 2012. His colleagues will remember him as a reliable and hardworking individual who always lent a helping hand. Prior to his time at Niles, Ray served with distinction at Sears, where he was regarded as a model employee and a true friend to many.

Beyond his professional life, Ray was a man of many interests and talents. He was an avid gardener, finding peace and contentment in the nurturing of his plants. His love for the outdoors extended to riding motorcycles, an activity that brought him immense freedom and joy. A skilled hunter and fisherman, Ray was also a regular participant in the VFW Turkey Shoots alongside his brother Tom, where his sharpshooting skills were on full display.

An animal lover at heart, Ray adored his little Mocha Joe and his kindness extended to all creatures, great and small. His passion for animals was matched only by his ability to captivate an audience with his fantastic storytelling. Ray’s tales were filled with warmth, humor and wisdom, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of listening. Ray’s impact on the lives of those around him was profound and his absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, resilience and joy for life will continue to inspire those he has left behind.

As we bid farewell to Marvin Ray Hildreth, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by love, friendship and an enduring spirit. Though he may be gone, the memories he created and the lives he touched will forever remain a testament to the remarkable man he was.

Rest in peace, Ray. Your journey through life was a beacon of light that will continue to shine in the hearts of those you touched. Your stories, laughter and love have left an indelible mark on this world, and for that, we are all eternally grateful.

A celebration of life for Ray will be held at a later date, the details of which will be announced.
