A congressman from Maryland wants the FBI to investigate Ed Martin, the former Missouri-based politician who’s now the acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia.

U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md. 8th Dist., said Martin failed to disclose more than 150 appearances he allegedly made on the Russia-controlled media outlets of Russia Today (RT) and Sputnik between 2016 and last year. According to the online publication, The Hill , Raskin accused Martin of repeatedly using Russian talking points and said it appears he may have promoted Russian interests.

Missourinet has reached out to Martin’s U.S. Attorney’s office for a comment and we are awaiting a response.

Meanwhile, U.S. Sen. Adam Schiff, D-California, is blocking Martin’s nomination by President Donald Trump to take over permanently as U.S. Attorney in Washington D.C. Schiff said no one embodies Donald Trump’s personal weaponization of the Justice Department more than Ed Martin.

Martin formerly served as Chief of Staff for former Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt. He later made unsuccessful bids for Congress in 2010 and Missouri Attorney General in 2012. Martin also served as chair of the Missouri Republican Party from 2013 to 2015. More recently, he gained notoriety for defending people charged with January 6th, 2021 crimes at the U.S. Capitol.
