ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WBFF) — A new online campaign, "No Moore," has emerged in Maryland, targeting Governor Wes Moore's proposed budget and associated tax increases. The website, launched earlier this month, has quickly gained traction, amassing a thousand followers in less than a month.

"It's designed to say I don't like the direction the state is going in with Governor Wes Moore," said political scientist John Dedie. The site draws comparisons between Moore's proposed tax hikes and those of former Governor Martin O'Malley. "They're saying if you were put off by his taxes here you've got a governor that's far worse," said political analyst Richard Vatz.

The campaign has expanded its reach through social media, accusing the governor of attempting to "tax his way to prosperity." While the individuals behind the effort remain unidentified, the website describes itself as a "grassroots uprising to fight back against the failed tax and spend policies of the Moore administration."

"This might be a conservative site that's upset about the direction of the state," said Vatz.

"I think in many ways this site can be a warning shot because he's got a lot of things to spend money on because he's got champagne taste on a peanut butter budget." said Dedie.

The Maryland Republican Party has stated it is not affiliated with the group. However, with the election a year and a half away, some experts speculate that this could be setting the stage for a political showdown. "The question is whether this becomes a theme brought up by more and more politicians," said Vatz.

"I think right now it can be effective in getting the message out. When you have a thousand followers in a month that's pretty good," said Dedie.
