If you have any unwanted or expired medications in your home, Saturday is the day to throw them out.

Saturday is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day , and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., law enforcement agencies and health care centers will collect unwanted and/or expired prescription medications .

Pills and capsules must be put in a zip-top bag. Also accepted include creams and powders, as well as liquid medicines no more than 4 oz. Inhalers and vape pens will also be collected.


According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating about the potential for abuse of medications.

Also, many Maryland police departments have dropboxes to collect unwanted prescription medications anonymously and for free.
