A pedestrian fatality is currently under investigation by Maryland State Police following a collision yesterday morning in Prince George’s County. Details are emerging on an incident that left an unidentified pedestrian dead at the scene.

The accident occurred around 3:12 a.m. near the inner loop of I-495, just south of US Route 1 in College Park. The Maryland State Police College Park Barrack was to respond to the emergency quickly. A Honda Civic was found parked on the left shoulder of the outer loop of I-495, and it is believed the driver suddenly fled the vehicle and attempted to hastily cross the inner traffic lanes on foot. During this attempt, they were struck by an oncoming Toyota.

Local authorities, including Prince George’s County Police and the Maryland Department of Transportation, helped manage the scene. Roads were closed for several hours so the team could gather evidence and understand what happened.

Although the identity of the deceased is yet to be released, the investigation continues to progress actively. Charges have not yet been filed, but discussions with the Office of the State's Attorney for Prince George’s County are ongoing, with decisions pending.
