MARYLAND ( DC News Now ) — You might see more Maryland State Police (MSP) troopers on the roads this weekend ahead of Cinco de Mayo celebrations.

All 23 MSP barracks across Maryland are ramping up enforcement and patrol efforts to combat an increase in distracted, aggressive and impaired driving, MSP announced Thursday.

Troopers will be conducting state-wide DUI patrols and high-visibility enforcement, designed to deter drivers from hitting the road while impaired.

MSP is advising drivers to prevent a tragedy and stick to rideshare services, taxis, designated drivers or public transportation this weekend.
