Tickets will be $15 apiece starting Wednesday!

If you're seeking some budget-friendly fun for the holidays, the Maryland Zoo just announced an offer worth bundling up for. Beginning December 1, the zoo will be reducing ticket prices to only $15 each throughout the winter season. The discount will be reflected in admission costs through February 28, 2022, and will return to normal rates at the beginning of March, according to a press release.

"We invite visitors to bundle up and enjoy some fresh air and quality time with friends and family this winter at the Zoo,” Kirby Fowler, president & CEO of the Maryland Zoo, said in a statement. “Visiting with our animals can add some sunshine to the colder months as many of our animals enjoy the colder weather and are more active.”

Tickets are available exclusively online and can be reserved in advance, the zoo said. Opening times vary throughout the season. December hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, while January and February are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through Monday.

To help plan your trip, the zoo also compiled a list of exhibits available for viewing during the colder months. Many animals, including the African Penguins, otters, and Amur leopard thrive in chilly temperatures, while others will be kept indoors. Attractions like the train and carousel will be open, weather permitting. Not bad for what's normally called the "off-season," huh?

A few things to know before you go:

  • COVID-19 measures will be enforced, including social distancing and masks worn indoors.
  • Zoo members and children under 2 still receive free entry.
  • The zoo is closed on Christmas Day.
