SPRINGFIELD — Four organizations from across the country who work on rooting out housing discrimination in their communities — including one in Western Massachusetts — have asked a judge to reinstate their grants that Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency suddenly ordered cut at the end of February.

The lawsuit filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court in Springfield says DOGE lacked the authority to order the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to terminate the grants funding a group of 66 fair housing organizations across the nation, leaving their work in limbo.
