COON RAPIDS — Isaac Ahn showed here Wednesday why he was a Mr. Golf finalist and he’ll play in the Ivy League next school year.

In his final high school golf meet, the Rochester Mayo senior shot the third-best score in the final round of the Class 3A boys state meet and climbed 21 places to earn all-state honors and a top-10 finish.

Ahn’s final-round 3-under-par 69 at Bunker Hills Golf Course was only one shot back of the day’s best score and it left him at 1-over-par 145 for the 36-hole meet. That gave him a seventh-place finish, climbing into the top 10 after sitting in 28th following an opening-round 76 on Tuesday.

Wednesday, Ahn started out red-hot and didn’t cool off — by his standards — until his round was nearly complete and a state championship was a few too many shots out of reach.

Ahn, the Section 1-3A medalist, started his round with a par on the 427-yard, par-4 1st hole, then he rattled off three consecutive birdies, including a 2 on the par-3, 164-yard third hole. He finished the front nine with five straight pars, then opened the back nine with two more birdies, including a 3 on the 428-yard, par-4 10th hole.

After four more consecutive pars, Ahn bogeyed two of the final three holes, but he still shot even-par 36 on the back (after a 33 on the front) and finished the day at 3-under-par 69.

The only golfers who shot better scores than Ahn in Wednesday’s round were the two players who finished atop the leaderboard — medalist Sam Udovich of Cretin-Derham Hall and Orono’s Dylan Kringen. Udovich, the 2025 Minnesota Mr. Golf winner and Texas Christian University commit, finished the two-day meet at 10-under-par 134, shooting 68 Wednesday on the heels of an opening round 66 Tuesday.

Kringen shot 70-68—138 to finish at 6-under for the meet and finish as the state runner-up.

Udovich led Cretin to the team title (291-287—578) by four shots over Chanhassen (292-290—582). Section 1 champion Northfield finished in a tie for fifth with Alexandria at 609.

Four other Rochester golfers competed in the meet, including two more seniors who played their final high school rounds on Wednesday — Century’s Ryker Hansen (75-78—153, 37th place) and Mayo’s Tim Sexton (86-75—161, 73rd).

Century junior Brennan Weckwerth finished 27th (77-73–150) and sophomore Boston Collins placed 64th (80-78—158).
