Global medical supplies manufacturer Medline will be building a 1.1-million-square-foot distribution center in Perryville.

Medline, a global medical supplies and clinical solutions company, is building a brand new manufacturing and distribution center in the Principio Business Park in Perryville. The 1.1 million square-foot facility will replace the company’s current facility operating out of Havre de Grace. When the new distribution center opens, the company says that 200 new jobs will have been created over the next six years. Medline produces more than 350,000 products needed by patients and clinicians nationwide, and has more than 16,000 employees in the U.S. and globally. The company’s support services and medical devices are utilized by clientele in more than 90 different countries. "Medline's decision to nearly triple its operations in Maryland and add 200 new jobs shows that our administration's work to strengthen the economy and change Maryland for the better is delivering real results," said Governor Larry Hogan in a press release statement by Medline.
The new distribution center will be developed on land purchased from Stewart Properties, with the help of a $1.2 million conditional loan from the Maryland Department of Commerce and a $170,000 loan from the county. The LEED-certified facility will be located in the Principio Business Park, just off Route 40. It's going to be one of more than 40 distribution centers currently housed in Cecil County. The company will be joining several other companies that have expanded to the area: Amazon just recently opened a new warehouse in the county; Rite Aid, Ikea, Restoration Hardware and the German Grocer Lidi all are preparing to open distribution centers in the same business park.
