COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)–A Memorial Day ceremony took place at Fort Jackson National Cemetery Monday morning.

On Monday, May 26, servicemen and women, veterans, family, and friends stood in solidarity and paid tribute to the sacrifices made for freedom.

Military leaders spoke about the importance of not losing sight of what Memorial Day means by reminding those in attendance that it is more than a holiday.

Fort Jackson National Cemetery was completed in 2015.
