The Metropolitan Police Department is appealing to the public for help in identifying suspects allegedly involved in an armed carjacking in the Southeast quadrant of the nation's capital. This event, reported and dated May 10th, followed an incident occurring on the previous Friday, May 9, around noon. According to the MPD account, several individuals targeted a person just as they were leaving their car. Found in the 1200 block of 4th Street, Southeast, the victim was confronted with the cold metal and explicit threat of a handgun, the suspects demanding and later receiving the keys to the gray 2017 Mazda CX-5, Maryland tag 1EH7711. In the event of a violent offense such as this, the community's vigilance is sought, but not its direct intervention. Images of the alleged culprits, details scarcely visible beyond the stark grain of a surveillance camera, have been released in hopes that a member of the public might come forward with their identities. The Metropolitan Police Department's official appeal, which can be found on their website , includes these photos and a plea for information. Those with knowledge of the carjacking or who can identify the suspects from the photos are urged to reconsider their silence, to transform an observation into civic duty. A reward of up to $10,000 awaits the individual whose tip leads to an arrest and conviction, a significant sum promised but only delivered upon the achievement of justice. Tips can be discreetly communicated to the police by calling (202) 727-9099 or texting the text tip line at 50411.
