The Metropolitan Police Department recently conducted an operation in the First District, resulting in the seizure of synthetic marijuana and firearms. Authorities consider the area a central location for synthetic cannabinoid production, according to the Metropolitan Police Department .

On Tuesday, the Metropolitan Police Department Special Missions Unit arrested 28-year-old Tyrone Phillips from Southeast while he was loading a storage container into a vehicle. Inside the container, officers found synthetic marijuana. After executing a search warrant at a nearby residence, they discovered 214 pounds of the substance, along with an AK-47 style pistol, two handguns, and drug manufacturing equipment.

Phillips was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Counterfeit Tags after drugs and tools for production were seized. The investigation is ongoing, and the Metropolitan Police Department is asking for any additional information.
