A man was struck by a Miami Beach police cruiser during an arrest related to an incident near Collins Avenue, surveillance video reveals. Jeremy Stafford, a 30-year-old suspect, was seen on a video obtained by CBS News Miami , being tackled by officers after being hit by the police SUV. The incident, which took place yesterday morning, started with officers responding to a reported disturbance. Stafford appeared to be 'highly intoxicated' and displayed 'aggressive behavior,' refusing to follow commands by the police. When officers attempted to detain him, Stafford fled, leading to a foot pursuit that ended when he ran into an oncoming police vehicle. "I have a pacemaker! Aaaah!" Stafford yelled during the takedown, according to WSVN . After the collision, the Miami Beach Police Department stated Stafford continued to resist arrest. A police-issued Taser was deployed but reportedly did not stop the suspect. The video footage shows multiple officers then gathered to control and arrest him. Stafford has been charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence, resisting arrest without violence, and consuming alcohol in public. Police also confirmed that he is a suspect in an ongoing sexual battery investigation. Details of the sexual battery subject were referenced by detectives but formal charges related to the incident occurring at the Chesterfield Hotel are yet to be announced. Mitch Novick, owner of the Sherbrooke Hotel, witnessed the arrest and said, "I saw the suspect not respecting the cops, and then he sought to flee from them, ran into a police cruiser," he told WSVN . Paramedics attended the scene following the takedown, but details about Stafford's condition were not immediately available. This incident on Miami Beach struck a contrasting note to the city's typically serene ambiance. Novick called it "a strange day in paradise," according to WSVN .
