MIAMI GARDENS — Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel met with reporters before Wednesday's workout at OTAs , touching on a variety of topics, including updates to several players coming off serious injuries and/or surgery. -- On edge rushers Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips , who are coming off serious injuries: Both are able to participate in most things most days while still being cautious in their recovery. -- RT Austin Jackson is doing more than G James Daniels as both also recover from injuries. -- WR Tyreek Hill, who had wrist surgery : He's doing as much as he can with the team. McDaniel sounds encouraged by Hill's progress. -- On Hill's alleged race vs. Noah Lyles : "Huh?" -- QB Tua Tagovailoa: It's all about consistency in development. McDaniel says there were "lessons learned" last year when he was on the field vs. when he could not play. -- On CB Jalen Ramsey, who is on the trading block : "Zero has changed since the last time I said anything about him. Very interested in coaching the players I have on the field today." (Asked two follow-up questions, McDaniel offers a similar response, clearly not wanting to discuss the Ramsey situation. Ramsey could be traded on or after June 1, when it becomes significantly better for the club in terms of the salary cap.) -- On retired OT Terron Armstead , who attended workouts this week (as a spectator, of course): "He's very much interested and has a passion for football." Will he coach? "All the guys are happy to see his investment." -- McDaniel praises RB De'Von Achane as he preps for Year 3, saying he's stepping up as a leader on the team and demanding the best out of teammates. -- On being with Tagovailoa for a fourth season: The "mastery" of the system is clear to McDaniel. Tagovailoa is looking to use every snap, regardless of the result, to get better. -- McDaniel says the team is doing more situational football earlier in this offseason program. -- On uncertainty in the secondary: McDaniel wants players to determine who should be out on the field with their performance: "I tell the guys I have a depth chart to fill out. Can you help me out with it? ... I don't want to guess. I people to show and learn."
