Reports of a potential shooting garnered an immediate and heavy police presence in Coconut Grove today, leading to the temporary lockdown of multiple schools in the area. CBS News Miami confirmed that just before 10:50 a.m., Miami Police were dispatched to 3575 Main Hwy, following what is now considered to have been a hoax or 'swatting' call. The police action put a scare into the local community, as nearby schools, which included Ransom Everglades Middle and High Schools, along with Carrollton of the Sacred Heart, swiftly implemented lockdown protocols. Officers conducted a detailed inspection of both the reported school and the surrounding vicinity. However, they did not find any indication of an actual threat. This information was later reiterated in an update from WSVN , which also confirmed the all-clear at Ransom Everglades High School. The spate of police activity comes on the heels of Ransom Everglades School's commencement, which took place last Friday. With the academic year winding to its close on June 3, the lockdown added an unexpected disruption to an otherwise celebratory week.
