COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A Midlands man said he was in the right place at the right time when he bought a $5 lottery ticket and won $200,000.

SC Lottery officials said he picked out the Poker Night card because he enjoys card games, but never expected his hand would deliver a six-figure payday.

“Eureka!” he said when he discovered the windfall on a scratch-off at the One Stop of Columbia on Hazelwood Road.

Officials said the winner is looking forward to spoiling his grandkids with the prize money.

“It’s good to have it,” he admitted to South Carolina Education Lottery officials.

The odds of winning $200,000 in the Poker Night game are 1 in 870,000. One more top prize remains in the game.
