Fairfax County Police are looking for answers after an area resident found a partially decomposed human foot in their backyard.

Add it to the list of things a homeowner definitely doesn't want to find in their backyard. One resident who lives at the 5900 block of Brunswick Street in Springfield called Fairfax County Police to report finding human remains. When police showed up, they immediately were able to identify that the remains were, in fact, a partially decomposed human foot. Police were not able to confirm the foot owner's gender or race, and they canvassed the area to see if there was any suspicious activity but got no leads. After asking neighbors for permission to search their backyards as well, police did find more bones, but they appeared to be from an animal and were not believed to be related to the discovered foot.
The Fairfax County Medical Examiner's Office was able to confirm, without a doubt, that the decomposing foot was human, though they did not have any more information to give the public. The examiner will collect tissue samples to determine whether the foot was removed from its body before or after the man or woman was deceased. They will also likely check the foot's DNA against police records to see if they can get a match. Unfortunately, toe prints aren't usually a part of police records. It's safe to say that if you happen to be missing a foot -- hopefully not someone else's foot -- and don't know where you left it, or know someone who is missing one of their feet, you should probably reach out to the Fairfax County Police as soon as physically possible. Like, literally call them right now. If you know anything about the foot -- literally anything at all -- reach out to investigators ... because they are baffled with this one. We will update this post as more facts become available.

Did you hear about the Red Robin employee in Northern Virginia caught filming a customer in the bathroom?
