BERKELEY, Mo. — An Amazon worker died after being stabbed by a coworker Sunday at an Amazon warehouse in north St. Louis County.

According to the Berkeley Police Department, the stabbing happened during an altercation between the two employees late Sunday night at Amazon STL9, located at 8850 Springdale Ave. In a Monday update, police said the victim died of their injuries.

The suspect, a 41-year-old man, was taken into custody at the scene. Berkeley Chief of Police Art Jackson said the police department plans to present the case to the county prosecutor's office for a warrant application.

“We’re saddened by this senseless act of violence and are focused on providing support for our employees at this time," Amazon spokesperson Sharyn Ghacham said in a statement. "We’ll defer to the Berkeley Police Department for additional information and continue to assist them with their investigation.”

The Bullet Related Injury Clinic (BRIC) is a community-based clinic in St. Louis that helps people heal after they have been injured by a bullet. The BRIC was established to help people who are discharged from the emergency department after being shot.
