The Missouri Supreme Court lifted two injunction rulings that halted enforcement of Missouri's near-total abortion ban on Tuesday. The ruling said that Jackson County Judge Jerri Zhang applied the wrong standard in rulings she made in December 2024 and February 2025 . These rulings allowed abortions to resume in the state. Zhang is now being ordered to vacate her earlier orders and issue a ruling again with different reasonings. In December 2024 , Zhang ruled that the ban violated the state constitution after voters approved Amendment 3. Amendment 3 guaranteed the right to an abortion up to the point of fetal viability. In February , Zhang ruled that special licensing requirements for abortion clinics were discriminatory. This ruling made it legal for abortions to be performed in the state. Abortion is going back to the ballot after the Missouri General Assembly passed House Joint Resolution 73 on May 14.
