When the Missouri Tigers landed Omaha-based tight end Isaac Jensen earlier this week, we mentioned how his pledge didn't mean that Mizzou was done recruiting the position in this cycle. But, just because they might still have interest in some players doesn't mean the players will see it the same way. In one case, they're going to have to look past a Kansas City tight end who is ranked high on their boards.

Three-star tight end Kevin Sullivan announced his commitment to rival Kansas on Thursday evening. Sullivan was a top in-state target of Eli Drinkwitz and is scheduled to visit Missouri on June 20.

Sullivan attends Rockhurst High School in Kansas City, Missouri and is ranked as the No. 2 tight end in the state of Missouri, behind fellow Kansas commit Jack Utz out of Platte County High School.

Although you never want a prospect that you're pursuing to choose a rival school, the commitment is not the end of the world for Mizzou. At 6'6" 220, Sullivan matches up similarly to what the Tigers got in Isaac Jensen and there are plenty of other tight ends on Mizzou's radar.

Missouri is still in the mix for four-star Evan Jacobson, who visited campus last month. Jacobson is a stud prospect who is the No. 3 ranked player in the state of Iowa and would make an immediate impact at Mizzou. Though, his recruitment seems to be an uphill battle, with tight end factories like Notre Dame and Texas A&M heavily pursuing him.

Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz lost out on an in-state product to bitter rival Kansas in a fierce recruiting battle.

Sullivan was mentioned by Athlon as a key visit to watch for the Tigers during the summer window due to rumblings that he was leaning towards Mizzou heading into his senior year. With the addition of Jensen for the Tigers, that likely pushed Sullivan out of Drinkwitz and Co's plans, leading to his commitment to the Jayhawks.

The Tigers still have four committed prospects in their 2026 recruiting class, including four-star quarterback Gavin Sidwar, four-star linebacker Keenan Harris and four-star wide receiver Jabari Brady , along with the aforementioned three-star tight end Isaac Jensen.
