FARGO — North Dakota State has so far lost two starters to the transfer portal in the spring window. South Dakota has had a rougher time to this point and probably the roughest time of any team in the Missouri Valley Football Conference so far this spring. The Coyotes have lost three starting offensive linemen, their top tackler, a starting receiver and a starting defensive back since last winter's portal window closed. Bryce Henderson , Joe Cotton and Josh Larsen have all gone into the portal since January, damaging what was expected to be one of the best offensive lines in the Football Championship Subdivision. In addition the Coyotes lost starting linebacker Gary Bryant , who led one of the best defenses in FCS last season with 102 tackles. Returning receiver Quaron Adams and starting defensive back Shahid Barros also entered the portal. USD made the FCS playoffs semifinals last season and are expected to be one of the top teams in 2025. The Bison haven't gone unscathed this spring. CharMar "Marty" Brown , one of the top returning running backs in FCS who won the Jerry Rice Award as the top freshman in the subdivision, entered the portal this week. Starting linebacker Enock Sibomana was NDSU's first top player to go in the portal this spring. The spring window opened April 16 and will close April 25. Here are the MVFC players who've entered their names in the transfer portal this spring as of the afternoon of Thursday, April 17. Some players might have announced their intent to enter but their name has not yet officially showed up in the portal. There is often an administrative lag time between when an athlete submits the paperwork to his or her school and the athlete's name officially shows up in the NCAA's computers. Similarly, some players have announced their intention to transfer to a specific school or have completed the transfer, but we've included all the names that entered the portal and not removed them even if they've found a new team.
