DETROIT - You’ll find creative murals all over buildings and in alleyways across Detroit. And the city’s street art scene is getting some big national recognition.

Detroit ranks ahead of Nashville and Chicago, coming in at No. 4 for Best Street Art in the U.S. on USA Today’s 10Best List.

Ranking in the top three are Jackson, Tennessee, Cincinnati, and Philadelphia. St. Petersberg, FL is No. 5, Sioux Falls, SD is No. 6, followed by Chicago, Nashville, Oklahoma City and Portland, OR.

“You can take in Motor City’s mural art from the seat of your car,” USA Today wrote. “Detroit’s Grand River Creative Corridor stands out as a highlight, with nearly 100 murals between Rosa Parks Boulevard and Warren Avenue. Alternatively, you can ride the Detroit People Mover’s 2.9-mile loop and explore Art in the Stations' collection of 13 mixed-media displays.”

This is the second year in a row Detroit has received this recognition from USA Today. Last year’s list had the city ranked at No. 5.

USA Today has numerous 10Best lists which are first nominated by a panel of experts made up of editors from both USA Today and 10Best.com. The top 10 is then determined by a public vote.
