The National Weather Service is predicting some severe storms tonight and later this weekend in Illinois, with the possibility of hail and strong gusts on the horizon. Here's the forecast.
Central Illinois storm outlook
Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible tonight across central Illinois, mainly between 8 p.m. and 3 a.m. Potential hazards include hail up to a quarter size and damaging gusts up to 60 mph. A cold front will bring
severe weather with it by Sunday afternoon across portions of central and southern Illinois.
Chicago storm outlook
Scattered thunderstorms are expected in Chicago between midnight and 9 a.m. tomorrow morning, with the possibility of lightning, downpours and hail up to an inch in diameter. Gusts up to 45-50 mph on Friday are predicted.
