April 1st
A Nightmare on Elm Street

It's always a good bet to start the month off with a scary movie! This blast from the past is sure to give you a scare – Freddy Kruger is always spooky!
Across the Universe

No one will judge you for singing along with this flick in your living room! No other music gives you nostalgia quite like the Beatles.
An American Tail, An American Tail: Fievel Goes West, and An American Tail: The Mystery of the Night Monster

This sweet story about a family of Russian mice emigrating to the US and having to relocate each other after getting separated will hit you right in the heart every time. Keep following the tale of Fievel and his family as the move to the Wild West in the sequel! And since you've already watched the other two, you may as well finish off the series! Watch Fievel and his friends team up with a reporter to chase the scoop of the century in this fun adventure.
Cool Runnings

This heartfelt classic comedy about the Jamaican bobsled team is sure to pick up your spirits when you're down.
Gremlins

Now that you're an adult, you can watch this dark comedy whenever you want! Just be sure not to feed them after midnight or get them wet!
Scooby-Doo

There's no good reason why this hasn't been on Netflix before now, but at least they finally added it! Live-action Scooby-Doo is just the right amount of campy for a bad day, so buckle up for some laughs!
Schindler's List

So this one is definitely not as feel-good as the rest of the list, but it's still a fantastic movie. It's perfect for a night when you're looking for something serious rather than a comedy.
Thunderstruck

There's something really satisfying for your inner child about watching a little kid realize his dream of becoming a basketball star, even if it happens via some magical talent-trading between him and a famous basketball player.
Trouble with the Curve

A heartfelt story about an aging baseball scout and his daughter, you'll definitely want a box of tissues next to you when you watch this one!
April 6th
The BFG

Roald Dahl was one of my favorite authors as a kid, and seeing his BFG brought to (CGI) life in this movie takes me back to reading his books in elementary school!
April 8th
Kubo and the Two Strings

The story is heartwarming and intense, the stop motion is absolutely jaw-dropping, and the characters are funny and as realistic as a (SPOILERS) statue monkey brought to life through magic and a samurai who's basically a human-sized beetle can be. This tale is sweet, heartfelt, intense, and emotional.
April 12th
DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 2

It's a cartoon about DC's superheroes and time travel. Does it really get any better than that?
April 14th
Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Return

The TV show was a cult hit in the 80's, and it's finally making its grand return! Curl up with some lousy movies and some great commentary courtesy of Jonah Ray, Baron Vaughn and Hampton Yount.
April 15th
Disney's Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey

Get ready to be a sobbing mess all over again as you follow Chance, Shadow and Sassy on their quest to find their owners again. Seriously, if you're an animal lover, make sure you have tissues nearby for this one.
April 21st
Bill Nye Saves the World Season 1

Watching Bill Nye was the best part of elementary school science class, and his new show is sure to be just good as the classics.
April 22nd
The Secret Life of Pets

The latest in a long line of feel-good animated talking animal movies,
The Secret Life of Pets is just the right sort of cutesy optimism you need after a bad day.
Whether you're looking for something funny, something animated, something serious, or something a bit scary, your inner child is going to love April's lineup of new additions to Netflix! Get ready to curl up and binge to your heart's content!
