"Game of Thrones" released 15 photos from the upcoming season, and the hype train will only get bigger in the coming months.

Oh, HBO, why must you tease us so? When they pushed the release back to a later date, a little part of me died. The wait is nearly over, though, as the blockbuster hit series "Game of Thrones" finally returns on July 16 this year. As if we weren't already dying with anticipation, the premium cable giant released a sneak peek on April 20. The pictures serve as a quick refresher of where each character left off at the end of last season and give a glimpse as to where they are going.

Winter is... here?

"Game of Thrones" is an incredibly detailed show. Indeed, the plot moves painfully slow at times throughout the series so the writers can capture every important aspect of the story. However, the elaborate setup makes climatic events all the more entertaining. While most series will build until a season finale, "Game of Thrones" will famously hit you where it hurts while masterfully setting up the plot further down the road.
(Spoilers) Season six finally filled some of the blanks fans have been pondering for years. In the last three episodes, we learned Jon Snow is actually a Targaryen, though he does not know it yet. In addition, we saw return of the Starks to Winterfell, a plot line three years in the making. The season's flagship episode, The Battle of the Bastards, won seven Emmy's, a new record for a single television episode. On the other side of the world, we saw what Daenerys Targaryen's dragons were capable of. They played an essential and long-awaited role in helping the Queen of Dragons return to Westeros. And let's not forget, she will be met by the current occupant of the Iron Throne: Cersei Lannister. What do the photos tell us about the upcoming season? Honestly, not a whole lot. But they serve as a great teaser to remind us all that winter is coming. What do you think will happen in season seven? Let us know in the comment section!
